| The Polk County Historical and Genealogical Library is now located in the East Wing (10,000 sq ft) of the Historic Courthouse. The Polk County Historical Museum is housed in the other 50,000 sq ft of the building. The Courthouse was restored in a three million dollar project completed in 1997. The restored courtrooms are now used for ceremonial events, including formal installation of county office holders and are also available for use for court purposes.
