In an article for The Newark (Ohio) Advocate, Courthouse: Jewell of Newark, reporter Larry Fugate notes that the Courthouse "is considered the crown jewel of Newark. ... 'I think the Courthouse has always been the most renown building in Licking County,' former Licking County Commissioner Donald D. Hill said. 'People look at it as representing Licking County.' "
