Lucas County Courthouse in Toledo, Ohio
The Lucas County Courthouse in Toledo, Ohio. Status: Currently houses the Lucas County Common Pleas Court (10 judges), the County Prosecutor's office, and the Clerk of Courts. According to Stephen Herwat of the Toledo-Lucas County Planning Commissions, the Courthouse "celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1999 ... the County has spent large sums of money renovating the building and restoring the exterior. It looks the same today as it does in the postcard. Another interesting tidbit about the Courthouse -- Toledo was originally part of the Black Swamp and significant areas were drained to build the city. To commemorate this heritage there is a mosaic frog in the center of the courthouse first floor."
