The Carnegie Library in Cleburne, Texas
The Carnegie public library in Cleburne, Texas, was built in 1904. It is one of only 13 of the 32 Texas Carnegie libraries still standing. Status: Remains in use. It now houses in the bottom floor the Layland Museum. The top floor is used as a community theater for the Carnegie Players, one of the oldest community theater groups in continuous existence. The upstairs theater still has its wooden floor and old fashioned seats. [Our thanks to Micki Nellis for providing this information.]
