| The Carnegie public library in Cleburne, Texas, was built in 1904. It is one of only 13 of the 32 Texas Carnegie libraries still standing. | Status: Remains in use. It now houses in the bottom floor the Layland Museum. The top floor is used as a community theater for the Carnegie Players, one of the oldest community theater groups in continuous existence. The upstairs theater still has its wooden floor and old fashioned seats. [Our thanks to Micki Nellis for providing this information.] |
