The Carnegie Library in Niles, Michigan, was built in 1902 in the Classical Revival style. According to the state historic register listing, the citizens of Niles raised $3,500 to purchase the land necessary for the library and the City Council voted to pay $1,500 a year for upkeep. These actions were necessary to obtain the Carnegie grant to cover the construction costs. For more on how Andrew Carnegie's library grants worked. |
