ALABAMA
As of August, 2000, The Land Trust of Huntsville & North Alabama holds over 2,400 acres in trust for the public's use. Located in one of the fastest growing regions of the state, the Land Trust is concerned with striking a balance between responsible development and landscape preservation.
The Cahaba River Society is fighting to limit Birmingham-area sprawl from spoiling Alabama's longest free flowing river, the Cahaba. Regular monitoring of water quality and development proposals are high on the agenda of this watershed advocacy and preservation group.
