Includes link to "A Citizen's Guide to Shaping the Future of Maryland," an online booklet with information on how changes to the landscape affect neighborhoods, open spaces, schools, and the way people interact in their communities.

    • Legislative history of Smart Growth legislation, adopted April 1997 (text of enacted bill can be downloaded).

  • 1000 Friends of Maryland. A statewide coalition modeled after the 1000 Friends of Oregon "to expand efforts to redirect Maryland's growth and to strengthen existing communities."

  • The Coalition for Smarter Growth (over 40 organizations working to fight sprawl and promote livable communities and transportation choices in the Washington DC region).
