NEW JERSEY
New Jersey Future is a statewide organization focusing on land use and related issues facing New Jersey. Not surprisingly, combatting sprawl by directing growth into existing developed areas is at the top of their agenda.
The New Jersey State Development and Redevelopment Plan contains a number of policies and strategies designed to control sprawl. See also New Jersey Future's Guide to the State Plan.
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign is an alliance of public interest,
transit advocacy, planning and environmental organizations working, in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut metropolitan region, "to reverse deepening automobile dependence and sprawl development by revitalizing and extending public transit and rail freight systems, reining in highway expansion and providing for foot and bicycle travel in transportation plans and projects."

According to Hasse, "This demonstrates the farmland-fragmenting pattern of sprawl development typical of rural New Jersey over the last 50 years." Hasse's PhD dissertation will focus on the impacts of sprawl on agriculture. |
