The Pennsylvania Environmental Council and 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania are two statewide organization that are addressing a range of land use issues, including sprawl.

The 21st Century Environment Commission, formed by then Governor Thomas Ridge in 1997 to define Pennsylvania's environmental priorities, released its draft report in June 1998. It includes a fairly lengthy section dealing with the environmental, economic, and social consequences of sprawl. The draft report also includes several recommendations for dealing with sprawl.
