Community Choices: Thinking Through Land Conservation, Development, and Property Taxes in Massachusetts 

This study looks at the relationship between land conservation and property taxes both over the short-term and long-term.  It finds that new developments often do not generate enough property taxes to cover increases in the costs of municipal services.
