* the details:
It may be trite, but it's usually true that a picture is worth 1,000 words. We want to add more photos to the Sprawl Resource Guide ... showing the good and the bad from across the country. Send us a photo from your community (or region) that shows the effects of sprawl -- or that highlights efforts to combat sprawl -- and if it's posted on the Sprawl Resource Guide we'll mail you a complimentary copy of our Sprawl & Today's Landscape reprint set (a $19.50 value).
Not clear what we have in mind? We've already posted a number of photos sent in by visitors to the Sprawl Guide. Take a look at two examples: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Nashville, Tennessee. Browse through the Guide and see where you think a photo from your community or region might fit in. Here are some examples of topics we would like to illustrate -- though there are many more possibilities:
sewer line extensions
school sites
housing .. high or low density
urban growth boundaries (for those of you in Oregon?)
roads and highways
compact v. sprawl development pattern
farmland preserved ... or lost
You can either e-mail a digital photo(s) to us at: editor@plannersweb.com -- or mail to: Editor, Planning Commissioners Journal, P.O. Box 4295, Burlington, VT 05406 (we'll scan and then return your photo(s)).
Important: it must be your photo or a photo you have the right to use. Please provide a description of the photo, and who to credit the photo to. We will only use the photo on the Sprawl Resource Guide, and will indicate that it is reproduced with permission. Note, only one complimentary reprint collection can be provided to any one person or organization.
